Oskar Krantz, Senior lecturer in Social work, PhD in Medicine in the field of Disability studies. Currently, my research is focusing aspects of impairment, disability, and rehabilitation. One example is assistive devices as both enabling and hindering factors concerning social inclusion in everyday life. Enabling functions include the possibility of partaking in a context that, without the device, would be rendered unaccessible. Hindering functions include the social implications of assistive device utilisation - even though a context is accessible from a physical perspective, social inclusion may be hindered by the deviation from the situational normality signalled by the device, and the person with the device therefore excluded.
