The Skin Barrier in Focus: What Can Molecular Insights Tell Us About Skin Health?

In this lecture, I will present our research on how hydration, skin care ingredients, and external factors like UV radiation influence the function and molecular properties of the skin barrier. We also explore non-invasive techniques to sample and analyze molecules from the skin surface, with the goal of assessing skin health and diagnosing conditions such as dry skin (xerosis) and skin cancer. Together with clinical collaborators, we are working to advance knowledge and enable the development of new, non-invasive methods for evaluating health and disease.
