Presentation
Charlotte Petersson holds a Ph.D. in social anthropology (medical anthropology) and conducts research in the field of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), which includes the interplay between structural, biological, cultural, social and individual factors that influence the conditions for sexual and reproductive health. The link between sexual health and various forms of violence is a particular focus. For instance, experiences of sexual violence in childhood and/or adulthood can impact health and well-being in the long term, including conditions for attachment, intimate relationships, family formation, and parenting. The research is centered on particularly vulnerable or marginalized groups/individuals who, for various reasons or circumstances, experience difficulties in accessing or utilizing the help offered by society, or whose sexual and reproductive health and rights are neglected. National minorities and indigenous peoples, individuals with migration experiences, as well as people with disabilities, are of particular focus in the research.
