Malmö University to recruit eleven associate senior lecturers
Malmö University is now making a major international investment and recruiting eleven associate senior lecturers at the beginning of their research careers. The positions are within the areas of humanities, social sciences, educational sciences, natural sciences, engineering sciences and odontology.
The recruitment is a central part of the University's Strategy 2030, which aims to strengthen the quality and scope of research, bring research and education closer together, and increase scientific and societal impact.
"We are looking for people who want to combine scientific excellence with research-related teaching and contribute to societal development. The new recruitments will be part of an international university where the highest quality in research and education is central," says Mia Rönnmar, Vice-Chancellor at Malmö University.
60 per cent research time
An important part of the initiative is that the new associate senior lecturers are guaranteed at least 60 per cent of their time for research. The remainder of their working hours will be devoted primarily to teaching.
“The arrangement will give new employees good opportunities to develop an interesting academic career and build up independent and innovative research, apply for external grants and develop international collaborations,” says Mia Rönnmar.
Career programme and higher education pedagogy training
The new assistant professors are also offered a special career programme with training in research leadership and higher education pedagogy. The aim is to strengthen the associate senior lecturers’ opportunities to develop as independent researchers and qualify for higher academic positions.
The training in research leadership includes developing knowledge in research funding, research communication, strategic use of AI, and academic leadership.
“The training creates networks between young researchers and is an important foundation for excellent research with a major impact,” says Malin Ideland, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Doctoral Education.
