Presentation

I am a lecturer and researcher in environmental studies and sustainability. My main research interest has been in conceptualizing the impacts of environmental policy on resource-based communities and their response to these. This includes using social and economic theory to explain the dynamics that drive particular approaches to environmental policies and the social and economic constraints and opportunities that communities face in seeking to have their interests met. My PhD work looked at wetland resotration in the Mississippi River Delta in Louisiana, USA. Further research projects have looked at environmental migration, agroforestry in the Sahel, and forestry in Northern Sweden. In my teaching, I endeavour to connect a deep appreciation for the power of social and economic theory with the necessity of delivering practically, all through the process of the concrete analysis of environmental problems. I currently teach predominantly in the Environmental Studies Program (Miljövetareprogrammet), on topics including environmental management, sustainable development, and environmental sociology.
