Transport Studies
Transport studies explore how people and goods move and are transported and how this affects communities, focusing on improving sustainability and accessibility in urban and rural environments.
Research at Malmö University focuses on analysing and improving transport and mobility systems to promote sustainable development and address challenges in transport planning, policy and innovation. The aim is to create efficient, accessible and equitable transport systems for both urban and rural communities.
Examples of research areas in transport studies:
Real estate, economics and transport
The impact of passenger and freight transport on business and community development, with a focus on real estate, accessibility, transport strategies and economics. Research also analyses the business models of transport companies.
Innovation and technology in public transport
How technological innovations, such as AI and digital solutions, can improve the efficiency and user experience of public transport systems.
Transport and Sustainability
How different policy measures can reduce car dependency and promote sustainable transport options such as public transport.
Malmö University is part of K2, Sweden's national centre for research and education on public transport.
